Our Partners
Marcus Krytharion
Senior Partner
Education: JD, Osgoode Hall Law School
Bar Admissions: Ontario (2003), New York (2005)
Focus: M&A, Corporate Restructuring
Marcus came up through Bay Street but got tired of the cookie-cutter approach. He's closed deals worth over $2B and knows when to push hard and when to back off - that's what 20+ years in the trenches teaches you.
Daniela Ward
Managing Partner
Education: JD, University of Toronto; LLM, Cambridge
Bar Admissions: Ontario (2006), British Columbia (2008)
Focus: IP Strategy, Tech Licensing
Daniela's defended patents for everyone from scrappy startups to Fortune 500s. She's got this rare ability to explain complex IP stuff without making your eyes glaze over, and she's won arguments at the Federal Court that others said were unwinnable.
Jonathan Reeves
Partner
Education: JD, McGill University; MBA, INSEAD
Bar Admissions: Ontario (2010), Quebec (2010)
Focus: Commercial Litigation, Employment Law
Jon's the guy you want when things go sideways. He's taken cases to trial that settled favorably at the courthouse steps and isn't afraid of a courtroom fight. His MBA background means he actually gets the business side of legal disputes.
How We Got Here
2008 - The Beginning
Marcus and Daniela met at a legal conference, both complaining about the same thing over drinks - how corporate law had become too mechanical, too focused on billable hours instead of actual results. They decided to do something about it and opened a small office with just the two of them and one paralegal.
2012 - Finding Our Groove
Word spread pretty fast. Turns out businesses really appreciated straight talk and lawyers who returned calls the same day. We moved to Bay Street and brought on our first associates. Started specializing more heavily in IP work as tech companies in Toronto really took off.
2015 - Jon Joins the Team
Jonathan came aboard after winning a case against us - yeah, we hired opposing counsel because he was that good. He brought his litigation chops and expanded our employment law practice. Sometimes the best hires come from your toughest adversaries.
2019 - Expansion & Recognition
We moved to our current suite to accommodate the growing team - now at 12 lawyers plus support staff. Canadian Lawyer Magazine named us one of the top boutique corporate firms in Ontario. Not gonna lie, that felt pretty good.
2025 - Today
We've handled hundreds of M&A deals, protected countless patents and trademarks, and helped businesses navigate everything from formation to exit. Still returning calls same-day, still giving it to you straight, and still genuinely caring about whether your business succeeds.
What We Actually Stand For
Look, every law firm says they're client-focused and results-driven. Here's what actually guides our decisions when nobody's watching:
We're fluent in legalese, obviously - it's kinda required. But we don't hide behind it to sound smart or justify our fees. If we can explain something in regular words, that's what we'll do. You're hiring us for our expertise, not to be confused by fancy terminology.
When legal language is actually necessary for your contracts or filings, we'll explain exactly why and what it means for your situation.
Sometimes the legally perfect solution isn't the right business move. We've talked clients out of lawsuits they'd probably win because the cost and distraction weren't worth it. We've recommended simpler contract structures that gave up some legal protections because speed to market mattered more.
Our job isn't just to give you legal advice - it's to give you legal advice that actually fits what you're trying to accomplish. Big difference.
We know you're not calling your lawyer for fun. If you've reached out, something needs attention. We aim for same-day responses, even if it's just to say "got your message, here's when I can properly dig into this."
The radio silence thing that some firms do? Where you send an email and hear nothing for three days? Yeah, we don't do that. It drives us crazy too.
We'll tell you upfront what something's likely to cost, and if we're gonna go over that estimate, you'll know before it happens. Our invoices actually explain what we did, not just "legal services rendered - 5.3 hours."
We offer flat fees for routine stuff, monthly retainers for ongoing work, and yes, hourly billing when it makes sense. But we'll have that conversation before we start, not after you get the bill.
Some lawyers think being aggressive all the time makes them look tough. In reality, it just burns bridges and runs up legal bills. We'll absolutely fight hard when that's what the situation calls for - Jon's trial record speaks for itself.
But most of the time, finding common ground and negotiating a solid deal serves our clients way better than treating every interaction like a death match. We know the difference.
We've got clients we've worked with since 2008. Watched their businesses grow from two founders in a garage to multi-million dollar operations. That's the goal - be the legal team that grows with you, not just the firm that handles a transaction and disappears.
It means we're thinking about your long-term interests, even on smaller matters. What we do today affects what options you'll have tomorrow.
Let's Talk About Your Situation
Whether you're dealing with a pressing legal issue or just want to get your ducks in a row before they become problems, we're happy to chat. First conversation's on us - no pressure, no meter running.
